Emmanuel Levinas Center
LSMU Emmanuel Levinas Center, established in 2018, is a department of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. The goal of the Center – to research and disseminate philosophical, intellectual and cultural legacy of a Kaunas-born world famous philosopher Emmanuel Levinas (1906-1995).
The Center collaborates with French Embassy in Lithuania, West Virginia University (US), "Kaunas European Capital of Culture 2022", Kaunas Municipality.
On 19 March, 2019 during the conference "Emmanuel Levinas: Life and Work“ Kaunas was visited by Emmanuel Levinas's son Michael Levinas and his wife, professor Danielle Cohen-Levinas. The conference was organized in collaboration between LSMU Emmanuel Levinas Center, Kaunas Municipality and French Embassy in Lithuania.
On June 20-22 LSMU Emmanuel Levinas Center, in collaboration with Department of Philosophy of West Virginia University, organized international conference "Existential Ethics". The conference is a part of a long term project, devoted to the study of continental ethics.
