How to apply to the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) for full-time degree studies
These guidelines are intended for students and recruiting agencies in order to make an application process clear and easy for both sides: an applicant and the university. We recommend you to read this guide before starting your application for admission to LSMU. LSMU uses an online application system that also serves a tool for basic communication with an applicant.
For your benefit:
- No application fee for first review of your application and feedback on eligibility;
- Feedback within 72 hours from submission of application;
- Three options available for admission to LSMU;
- Flexible option for a place to sit an entrance examination (your home country, neighbouring country or LSMU);
- Results of the entrance examination are announced and applicants with the best results are offered a study place at LSMU on the same day.
Beginning of online application period. All applicants shall apply at http://apply.lsmuni.lt and upload the copies of all required documents;
Consideration of applications begins

Application deadline. The application system is closed at midnight on 30 June;
Deadline to take the entrance examination.
Applicants are asked to apply as early as possible. Applications after the deadline are considered by the University based on place availability in certain degree programmes.
HOW TO APPLY
Step 1. CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT ON APPLICATION SYSTEM
Visit http://apply.lsmuni.lt and begin with ‘Sign up’ or ‘Online application – start here!’ After completing this step, your personal account will be created and you will receive an applicant’s code, which provides you access to an application form.
Step 2. FILL IN AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FORM ONLINE
Login with your code and fill in an application form online. You may save your data at any time and continue later. This applies both to the information entered to text fields and the uploaded electronic copies of documents (see the list of items to be uploaded). The system will verify the progress of your application showing the places where application is still incomplete. When all issues are solved, you will be able to submit your application.
Items to be uploaded (in an original language and with an authorized English translation):
1. Matriculation / School Leaving Certificate confirmed by the governmental authorities. If you are to graduate after the application deadline, please submit your most recent academic achievements of the current academic year or an official letter with estimated grades issued by your school authorities;
2. Transcripts of high school/ senior secondary school courses verifying successful completion of General Biology and General Chemistry;
NOTE: Education documents shall be legalized in the following way:
If you acquired your education in the countries-members of the Hague 1961 Convention (e.g. Israel, Italy, India, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Australia, Venezuela, etc.), you should present your education documents with an affixed Apostille (in most countries, the Apostille is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.)
If you acquired your education in any other country (Lebanon, Jordan, Philippines, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, etc.), your education documents should be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the diplomatic mission or consular post of the country where education was acquired.
3. Score Reports on SAT Subject Tests for Chemistry and Biology, if available;
4. Certificate proving the knowledge of the English language; If you are not able to present a certificate proving the knowledge of the English language (TOEFL, IELTS, B2 Level ‘Independent user’ by CEFR or adequate), you will have to take an English language test prepared by the University. The English language test will be given on the same day as the Biology/Chemistry test.
5. Brief CV;
6. Motivation letter;
7. Passport or ID copy;
8. Health certificate based on a complete medical examination;
9. Two passport-type photographs with a white background (3×4 cm).
Step 3. WAIT FOR FEEDBACK FROM THE UNIVERSITY
Your submitted application will be verified and you will be given feedback within 72 hours after submission of your application. Please log on to the application system and check the feedback. Positive feedback means that you are eligible to apply for admission to LSMU and you are welcome to take the entrance examination. Depending on a certain case, you may be asked to amend your application. If you are not eligible to apply for admission to LSMU, the reasons of your ineligibility will be explained in the feedback.
Step 4. PAY AN APPLICATION FEE
Once you have received positive feedback, you are invited to continue application and are asked to pay an application fee of 350 EUR. An invoice will be issued by the application system for this amount of money, which shall be transferred to the University’s bank account. You will find all the information needed for payment in the invoice.
Once your payment has been received, your application will be processed further.

Step 5. CHOOSE THE OPTION FOR ADMISSION TO LSMU
Choose from the following three options:
Option 1. Take the entrance examination prepared by LSMU during the application period, i.e., from 1 October till 15 July. The schedule of entrance examinations abroad is announced at http://lsmuni.lt/en/activities/degree-studies/admission/examsfairs-abroad/. You may also contact an admission officer (e-mail: email@example.com) or a local representative for the available dates and places to sit the entrance examination. The entrance examination can be taken at LSMU as well.
Option 2. Provide the Score Reports on SAT Subject Tests in Chemistry and Biology. If your score is 550 or above, you are exempt from the entrance examination given by LSMU. Please note that only official score reports sent by the testing agency are accepted. The University’s registration code at the College Board is 7210.
Option 3. If you have successfully pursued studies in biomedical areas at other accredited universities, you can apply for admission without being obliged to sit the entrance examination. The courses completed during previous studies, which are identical or similar to the curriculum of LSMU, can be recognized and accepted. Admission to the second year might be possible depending on transfer results. Note that LSMU does not accept transfer students seeking admission to the third or upper years.
Step 6. IF YOU CHOSE OPTION 1, TAKE THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
The entrance examination shall be taken until 15 July.
The entrance examination consists of multiple-choice tests (MCQ) in Biology (30 questions) and Chemistry (30 questions) based on the high school curriculum and is given in English. The structure of MCQ is similar to SAT Subject Tests. The results of the test are announced on the same day. If necessary, the English language test will be given after the Biology/Chemistry test. After the completion of the entrance exam, the applicants are divided to several groups with the outcome described below:

|CONDITIONALLY ACCEPTED||→||Follow the directions given by an admission officer and wait for status ‘ACCEPTED’|
|COMPETITION LINE||→||No decision will be taken before 15 July. You will compete with other applicants for a study place according the results of your entrance exam.
|NOT ACCEPTED||→||End of application process. This means that, unfortunately, your knowledge is not sufficient to enter LSMU. We recommend you to look for a study place at other university.|
Step 7. STUDY PLACE OFFER ISSUED BY LSMU
If you completed the above-mentioned procedures successfully and received the Offer Letter to study at LSMU, please CONSIDER THE TERMS PROVIDED IN THIS OFFER LETTER and inform the University if you are taking the offer or not. In case of a positive answer, the package of original application documents shall be submitted to the LSMU International Relations and Study Centre, address: Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, A. Mickevičiaus str. 9, Kaunas LT-44307, Lithuania.
Step 8. SIGN A STUDY CONTRACT AND PAY A FIRST-YEAR TUITION FEE
Once the offer to study at LSMU has been accepted by you, an individual Study Contract will be issued to you. The signed Study Contract shall be sent back to the University. A first-year tuition fee shall be paid under the conditions of the Study Contract.
Step 9. APPLY FOR A LITHUANIAN NATIONAL VISA (D) (IF APPLICABLE)
Depending on a country you live, you can be required a visa to enter Lithuania. Please, check the list of countries at http://consul.mfa.lt, the citizens of which need a visa to enter Lithuania. In case you do not need any visa, simply skip this step and move to next.
A national visa (D) is granted through the mediation of the University at student’s expense. Application for a national visa (D) shall be submitted to the diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Lithuania abroad. This visa will enable you to enter Lithuania and stay for one calendar year legally. Mediation letters to apply for a national visa (D) will be issued by the University in case if all the above-mentioned Steps are completed.
For the forthcoming years, the visa will be extended when staying in Lithuania.
The following documents should be submitted in order to apply for a national visa (D):
1. Application Form;
2. Valid passport or ID;
3. Mediation documents → the University will issue these documents within 2 weeks after a student signs the Study Contract;
4. Documents certifying your financial status;
5. Health insurance policy;
6. Visa application fee;
7. Two passport-type photographs.
Step 10. WELCOME TO LSMU!
REGISTER FOR STUDIES during the last week of August. You will receive a timetable of the Registration Week by e-mail through the online system). All information about studies and schedules will be provided during this week.
